Dermaplaning in Columbus, OH
Dermaplaning is one of the most effective ways to exfoliate your skin to give it a glowing, healthy appearance. Downtown Dermatology offers dermaplaning for men and women in the Columbus and Upper Arlington area.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a cosmetic dermatology treatment that exfoliates the skin and removes the fine hair (peach fuzz) from your face. The treatment works by removing a small layer of skin from the surface, and should not be confused with the more advanced dermabrasion process.
Our patients choose dermaplaning to improve their skin because the treatment:
Is quick and painless
Requires no downtime
Gives an immediate improvement to the skin
Is a great alternative for patients who do not want chemical peels
Removes the fine hair from the face
Where Can Dermaplaning Be Applied?
Dermaplaning should only be performed by a qualified medical professional. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Hicks-Graham performs dermaplaning on the facial area.
How is Dermaplaning Administered?
During a dermaplaning treatment, a thin layer of skin is removed with a scalpel. Dr. Hicks-Graham uses a feather-like touch to gently scrape away the surface of the skin. The sensation is similar to gently scratching your skin.
Dermaplaning Procedure Preparation
You should not use any cleansers, moisturizers or make up on your skin the morning of the appointment. We also recommend that you avoid sunlight for three weeks before your dermaplaning treatment.
Dermaplaning Procedure Recovery
Dermaplaning by Dr. Hicks-Graham does not cause any unwanted side effects. In a few cases, patients noticed a reddening to their skin that lasted only 24 hours. You should avoid sunlight for at least one week after your dermaplaning treatment.
How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?
Dermaplaning is considered elective by your medical insurance. As such, you are responsible for the cost. Payment can be made by cash, check, major credit card or CareCredit® financing.
Is Dermaplaning Right for Me?
Our dermaplaning treatments are a relaxing way to freshen up your skin. If you have healing or open sores on your skin or certain medical conditions, dermaplaning may not be right for you. Dr. Hicks-Graham will determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment during your consultation.
